World Oceans Day is just around the corner and we thought we’d take some time to illustrate the importance of ocean conservation. Oceans are powerful forces of nature that must be protected.

Here at Avant Skincare we are dedicated to working with nature to bring you nutrient-dense skincare that doesn’t cost the earth. After all, our environment is our legacy.

Our planet’s oceans make up 70% of the Earth’ s surface and over 70% of our oxygen is produced by the ocean. We are all deeply connected to the ocean, through the climate, weather and even the air we breathe.

We have taken steps at Avant Skincare to protect our oceans. This mysterious & miraculous underwater kingdom needs our help to thrive.

Five unbelievable facts about the ocean you probably didn’t know!

- The ocean is home to nearly 95% of all life, with 91% of underwater species remaining undiscovered.

- More than 95% of the planet’s oceans remain unexplored.

- The world’s longest chain of mountains, the Mid-Ocean range, are underwater.

- There are rivers and lakes that flow beneath the sea.

- There are more historic artefacts under the sea than in all the world’s museums.

The effect of climate change on the ocean

The climate crisis has had a detrimental effect on our planet’s oceans and the life that inhabits it. A 2016 report found that the oceans have absorbed 90% of global warming since the 1970s.

This has caused ocean ecosystems to radically change. Warming oceans alter currents, wind and weather patterns, transforming the fabric of the world we live in. It has also led to coral bleaching, mass migration and stunted development of marine life.

The geography of our planet is also under threat by the warming of oceans. The polar ice is melting, causing sea levels to rise at around a rate of one-eighth of an inch per year. Entire islands and around 2% of the world’s land could be wiped off the map completely as the sea level rises.

How does Avant Skincare work to protect our oceans?

Though these are terrifying figures, all hope is not lost. There are steps and initiatives we can all follow to help protect our oceans and the world as we know it.

Avant Skincare is dedicated to protecting our oceans wherever possible. We focus on nurturing a positive relationship between humanity and nature. This is why all of our products are cruelty-free and ocean-friendly.

Our formulas are infused with natural replenishing ingredients, ensuring we are working with our planet rather than against it. The Bi-Phase Hyaluronic Acid Rejuvenating Micellar Water is packed with vitamins and minerals including Vitamins A, B-6, B-12, C and D, as well as Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Tonka Bean and Brazil Nut.

In order to further protect our environment, our packaging boxes are entirely recyclable, ultra-light and made from 100% recycled fibres.

We are also making great strides toward sustainability. Our innovative Sustainable Arabica Coffee Scrub embraces a greater ecosystem. Each phase of the manufacturing process has been scrutinised with particular care for our planet.

How can you work to protect our oceans?

You too can take steps in your everyday lives to protect our oceans. Commit to buying ocean-friendly products, boycott single-use plastic and reduce your carbon footprint by taking public transport.
