This year people are looking into looking after other areas of their bodies and not just their faces. Why not make yourself feel good all over by paying more attention to what you’re putting on your body?

Here’s a routine so that you can look after the skin over your whole body

Why it is important to exfoliate your skin once a week?

Exfoliating your skin isn’t just for getting rid of last week’s fake tan, it can really help to give your skin an even tone, even if you decide not to tan. Start by rubbing exfoliator into your skin in circular motions, working from your feet upwards. Take special care over your stomach and chest as your skin is more delicate here. It helps your skin to shed the dead skin cells that struggle to shed normally to make your skin look more radiant and feel softer. Begin with doing the process once a week, you can work up to doing this process 2 to 3 times a week, if you feel that you need to. Be careful with this as over exfoliation can cause your skin to become dry. 

Cleanse and rinse your skin

This doesn’t mean in the same way as you would your face but soaking in a bath of warm water followed by a gentle shower can leave your skin feeling softer and help with the appearance of cellulite.

Moisturise your skin

Moisturising is the most important part of any skincare routine, on your face, hands or even feet! Especially after exfoliating your skin, putting a moisturiser on top means that active ingredients within body creams and lotions can get further into your skin to improve its appearance. 

Start with a coin-sized dollop of cream in your palm and evenly distribute it on targeted parts of your body, starting from the bottom up. 

Repeat as you work by section, hitting legs, torso and arms. 

Do not forget to rub lotion into your feet and hands, and pay special attention to particularly cracked, dry areas and your knees and elbows. Finally, do not saturate your body in lotion, but start with small dollops and increase the amount as needed.
